Online Consult Recording: Case Study #4 - small animal vet owner of a TB with suspected NPLA and associated pathology

VIP Membership content

Join Beccy Smith, and UK based small aninal vet Lorraine in this incredible detailed (and entertaining!) 2 part online equine podiatry consult recording featuring Lorraines TB Chalis who has suspected negative plantar P3 angle (NPLA) and associated lameness and pathology.

Posture and hoof assessment plus sole mark up for trimming
Online Consult case study #4 featuring Lorraine and Chalis

Lorraine describes Chalis as having dorso-plantar bilateral hind hoof imbalance, with pathology in the laminae, navicular region, which isn't often diagnosed in the hind hooves. He also has bilateral proximal suspensory injury and has had intermittent lameness in the fronts, including abscesses and left hind limb lameness recently.

As a vet, Lorraine was aware she needed help to rehab the hoof imbalance, and had not had success with her current farrier. Lorraine was hoping to return to low level riding or even pasture sound for happy retirement. Front hooves are shod, and the hind shoes were only recently removed. Chalis cannot stand square on his own, and Lorraine is concerned about the short and long term impact of his hoof balance and ability to live a comfortable life.
