Normal versus Compensatory Posture

We assess posture as part of our consults... a change in posture can provide early indicator of a loss of healthy, way before changes become apparent in the hoof capsule... we also document posture as well as hooves and take notes of any changes the owner is aware of in the horses environment. Often there are changes post wormer or vaccinations or diet or if the physical environment has created more wear than growth.

Proactive horse and hoof care is especially important in the shoeless horse as loss of vertical height, especially in the heels can lead to postural changes which are depleting, place the horse at greater risk of injury, trauma, disease and infection, and can crate further unwanted wear and loss of balance, which creates more compensatory posture, and so on...

If, like our clients, you want to learn a PRO-Active approach to hoof care and wish to prevent lameness in your horse, consider booking us for an Integrative Podiatry Consult, Educational Event, On-line Course or join our new VIP membership where you can learn top tips straight from an expert!

We take an integrative and holistic approach to whole horse hoof and body health. We appreciate the relationship between body, limb and hoof and seek to address imbalances while positively influencing appropriate static and dynamic hoof balance and biomechanics.
