About the event

PRO-active Integrative Hoof Care—1 day Intensive Event with Integrative Hoof Expert Beccy Smith BSc ADAEP EBW - Holistic Equine Podiatrist & Consultant

This event focuses on the practical application of assessment, hoof mapping & trimming (cadavers) to promote ideals to help prevent lameness & appreciate our PRO-Active and integrative approach to whole horse to hoof care. We strongly recommend you book our foundation event the day before to facilitate a deeper dive into this practical application of our approach. Our event on the 18th focuses on assessment & recognition of healthy ideals to help prevent lameness.

Prevention is always better than cure and this is now more relevant than ever with lameness on the increase! This course will help you become a more responsible horse carer and equine professional by recognising signs of ill health earlier and facilitating well-being and lasting resilience in your horse from head to toe!

This is a very intensive course & topics include:

·  Review ideal posture, hoof proportions, signs of pathology & distortions in the hoof on cadavers

· Practice mapping, assessing and hoof scoring also on cadavers

· Learn basic hoof trimming tool use & horse handling

· Practice maintenance trimming to promote ideals (on cadavers)

· Learn more on influence of the environment on the hoof score, interventions (shoe/boot/BF) and teamwork

No previous experience necessary. Suitable for horse owners, carers, riders & industry professionals including hoof carers, therapists, nutritionists, vets, saddle fitters, behaviorists, and students.

Beccy has over 26 years industry experience (12 years as a professional hoof carer) and is qualified in Advanced Applied Equine Podiatry and Equine Body Work and considers herself an independent Integrative Equine Podiatrist. Beccy's approach to holistic horse and hoof care is unique and you won't learn her approach on other horse courses or events. Beccy is inspired by modern equine podiatry, barefoot and farriers leaders including KC LaPierre (The IAEP), Yogi Sharp (The Equine Documentalist), Wayne Turner (Progressive Equine Services) and Daisey Bicking (Daisey Haven Farm and School of Progressive Hoof Care) to name a few. Learn more about Beccy and her work within the equine industry at www.holisticequine.co.uk/beccy-smith

This is an intensive and fast paced educational event and we have limited the group to 6 to give you the best experience. There will be a mix of lecture, demo and practical learning opportunities where you will be able apply what you have learned on cadaver hooves. Discussion, questions and observations are welcome and all hoof care approaches and interventions will be included (shoes, boots, barefoot, etc).

Ideally, attendees of this event should attend the event on the 18th June as this will provide foundational learning for the this more practical event. To get the very best learning experience out of this event, please book the event on the 19th June:  www.holisticequine.co.uk/events
