YIN AND YANG

The Yin and Yang symbol is one of the most well known and widely used to promote holistic healing. However the meaning of this symbol goes far beyond its popular associations. To the Chinese this symbol represents the relationship of how things function within the universe. Change Is a continues process and can be seen as represented in the Yin Yang symbol, each part exists with an element of each other within. Everything has two parts: a Yin and a Yang aspect. Time can be divided into night and day, temperature into hot and cold and so on. Even these aspects can be further divided into Yin and Yang, day into dusk and dawn or morning and afternoon etc. Nothing is completely in isolation and one cannot exist without the other.

Yin and Yang each have their own associations: Yin is seen to be dark, passive, cold and tranquil. Yang has associations such as heat, activity, excitement, stimulation and potential.
